NIQASH is a trilingual website (Arabic, English, Kurdish) on politics, media and culture in Iraq. Since March 2005 a network of Iraqi correspondents has delivered in-depth reports, interviews and analysis on the most important topics in Iraq today. This includes Iraqi elections, the constitutional process and the formation of the Iraqi government as well as articles on regional politics and development of power, the local media and various social, economic and cultural issues. The correspondents in Iraq are managed by an international team of editors based in Berlin.
NIQASH is run by MiCT – Media in Cooperation and Transition –, a non-profit media organization based in Berlin with offices in Iraq, Tunisia, Egypt and Southern Sudan. MiCT’s activities comprise training of journalists and media producers, program and content development, the production of radio programs, films and books, as well as media monitoring in conflict and post-conflict zones.
MiCT has been implementing media projects on political and cultural topics in Iraq, in cooperation with Iraqi activists, journalists, artists, and media producers, since 2004.
